AMALFI COAST & GREEK ISLES

We can always count on Valerie to find and organize the perfect trip.  For our 50th wedding anniversary, she sent us to the Amalfi Coast and Greek Isles with Celebrity Cruises. Valerie coordinated private shore excursions with Abercrombie & Kent, pre-cruise in Rome, and every port thereafter. This trip gave my husband and me the chance to see all of the places we each wanted to visit one day; Pompeii, the Colosseum, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, open-air markets, Parthenon, and Acropolis. It is hard to decide which was the most impressive.   With Valerie's help, we were able to see and experience places we would not have thought about.  In Santorini Greece, we visited a vineyard, Estate Argyros.  With our guide we tasted the wines of the area and learned the differences between the white wines there and the ones found in France, Italy, and the US, what foods were suitable to pair with each wine, and why. In Nafplion Greece, we visited a theater built in the 4th century BC, sat in limestone seats, and learned about the acoustics of the theater, and why we were able to hear paper being crumpled and a pen dropped on the stage.  Malta was a different experience, the guide, and driver asked if there was something different we wanted to do instead of what the itinerary had for us.  We suggested driving around the country to see where the local people lived and worked.  We drove around the coast, stopped, at a roadside stand, purchased local snacks, drove into the mountains, and saw huge homes tucked away and hidden from view.  A very relaxed day. Valerie once again planned a trip we will never forget. We did not have to do anything except say yes, let's do that, pack and get to the airport.  We will never use anyone else to plan our trips.
